Hello, to all my “Words Of Faith” blog readers.  I took the summer off to spend time with my family, but I’m back and planning to share more with you now that things are falling into a routine. That being said, the weather has been beautiful and I’m enjoying my daily walks as that is my time with God.
The other day God shared something with me that I believe I am to share with you.  I was walking over a bridge, and as I paused to glance down …

Sisyphean toil

Life is a funny thing.  It can throw you a curveball when you least expect it.  That happened to me 14-years-ago.  My husband and I were finally building the home we dreamed about, and I had just had my second child.   I was happy, very happy, but suddenly – the curveball came – my health began to fall apart.
I had developed my first-ever bladder infection and even though the infection was treated, over and over I might add, the pain never went away and actually became more and more …

Yesterday I stopped at Starbucks with my son.  He had just had mouth surgery and I promised him a milkshake afterwards.  I thought he would pick a McDonald’s milkshake but his idea was a Starbucks double-chocolate frappuccino. While waiting in line behind an older gentleman who just ordered a simple decaf coffee, I witnessed something that warmed my heart and I thought I’d share it.
Just as the older gentleman was reaching for his wallet to pay for his coffee, a well-dressed businessman, who was sitting at a table behind …

Blogger Melissa talks about her gift for the season

By MELISSA STEINOUR

One of my most memorable Christmas gifts was back in 1982 when I was just 11-years-old.  I had asked my parents for a puppy.
On Christmas morning, my sisters and I woke my parents early to open our presents.  As we gathered around the tree to begin devouring into them, I heard a funny noise outside our front door.  I stood and excitedly exclaimed, “YOU GOT US A PUPPY!!!!!“   I proceeded to run to the door, fling it open, screamed, slammed the door shut, and yelled, “It’s a BIG …

My spirit has been grieving, and my heart is full of sorrow this week over the tragic loss the Colonial Hills Baptist Church of Indianapolis, Ind. suffered this past Saturday, July 27.
A bus bringing their students and chaperones back from church camp wrecked just a mile from the church after it failed to make a turn due to brake failure. The devastating crash resulted in the death of Tonya Weindorf, chaperone and mother of five; Chad Phelps, youth pastor and Courtney Phelps, his wife and their unborn baby daughter. …

I have a confession to make:  I have this really weird habit when I go grocery shopping of looking into other people’s carts to see if they are eating healthy.   I wasn’t always this way.  Thirteen years ago I became sick, really sick.  I was never a junk food eater, but in order to get well again, it was a long, hard road.  Part of that road was to take all sugar out of my diet and by all sugar I mean exactly that.  I couldn’t even have …

As we celebrate Father’s Day this Sunday, I find myself thinking back to my childhood with fond memories.  I can honestly say that I think I have the BEST dad anyone could ever have.  He is hardworking, extremely funny, upright, and honest …. a man of real integrity.
I can’t remember a time that we didn’t get along but I do remember times that he corrected me out of love.   I am most thankful for how he has lead our family in the ways of God, taking us to …

pets

By MELISSA STEINOUR

I recently read a post on Facebook asking, “Do pets go to heaven?” I began to read the replies of varying opinions, and as I scrolled further down the list, I was stunned by one particular response, which said, “of course pets go to heaven, everyone does!”
It is a fact that there will indeed be animals in heaven. We are told in Isaiah that once the devil is bound by Jesus there will be perfect peace – even with the animals. “In that …

This Sunday is Mother’s Day and I wanted to take this time to wish all the mothers, grandmothers, mother-figures, and mothers-to-be a very special day.
The Bible clearly commands us in Ephesians 6:2-3 to honor your father and mother. “This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” What does it mean to honor your parents? It means to respect …

I was going to write my blog this week about the Boston marathon bombings, but God gave me another very clear dream last night that I feel I am to share with my readers:
The dream began with my husband and I moving to a very busy city, Washington D.C. (God has a sense of humor because he knows I don’t like Washington, D.C. or cities). There were people everywhere and we were trying to adjust to “city life.”
One morning my husband left for work, …
