Crowds were big early Wednesday for the first Kiddie Day of the week and the annual craft show. I headed out earlier than usual to catch the last few hours of the events.
However, I first found myself in the home products buildings. I decided to break out the camcorder to put something together on why 3,000+ items are entered each year. After finally finding someone who was willing to talk on camera, I came across a bit of a scandal in the home products arena.
I noticed before …

I would have liked to think I came better prepared outfit wise after Monday’s sweat fest, but to my dismay there was really no difference.
I decided to start out the evening with a journey through the livestock areas. The closest I’ve really been to a farm is on the road driving by.
I was pretty entertained by all the animals, especially the goats. I was taking pictures with my phone to tweet and I had to wipe if off a few times because the goats were very intrigued and …

To start off, I must admit that I’ve only been to the fair maybe twice in the past, and the last time was probably a good five years ago. So, I’m pretty much as new to it as anyone.
After arriving around 4 p.m., I spent some time walking around and working up a major sweat before sitting down to crank out a story by 6 p.m. deadline (To go on a tangent – my rage was pretty high after learning my wireless card wasn’t working. Because I …

My first experience working in flash is somewhat of a success.
The following is an interactive tour of the Shippensburg Historical Society building, put it in fullscreen mode and enjoy!

I joyfully worked until midnight yesterday.
You read right, I voluntarily and happily worked until an ungodly hour. Why?
I was given the honor and privilege to get an inside look at Shippensburg’s hot dog ministry.
Every Thursday a group of dedicated Shippensburg University students and campus ministers, work to serve passing party-goers and comebackers a hotdog for around 2 hours starting at 11 p.m., on the legendary Richard Street. In addition to serving the great hangover remedy, the group also runs a free shuttle service, so that students …

I walked on that thing, somewhat by myself! So cool! (Morgan Young)

BY MORGAN YOUNG; Staff writer
Last week I took and exclusive backstage tour of the H. Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University. While I didn’t get to hysterically swoon in front of anything that Bill Cosby touched, I still had loads of fun. I even got to take a little stroll down the cat walk, that thing that looks sort of like a hallway in the middle of the ceiling. I think might catwalk days are numbered, that things shook a little, but again still fun. I hope you …

plan b -vmachine

BY MORGAN YOUNG; Blogger/Staff writer
In the last few weeks, the existence of a Plan B dispensing vending machine at the Shippensburg University health center has garnered national attention. Go figure.
I won’t say much about how I came across the now infamous vending machine that has been referenced by comedians, public institutions and news outlets around the world. But since the story I wrote was the catalyst for the media storm, I thought I should say something.
SIDENOTE: I would like to show my sympathy for the “offending” machine. It …

Have you tweeted from the back of a police car? Ever wonder what you would tweet from jail?
Reporters Morgan Young and Samantha Cossick discuss their experiences live tweeting from news event, such as Chambersburg and Shippensburg Borough Council, as well as the possible tweets they would write from the Franklin County Jail.

Me firefighting it up (Photo by Markell DeLoatch)

Last Friday was the best day of my journalistic life so far. Why? I got to be a Shippensburg firefighter for a day!
Ok, I wasn’t really a firefighter, but I got to follow around some real fighters and do some of the things they do. Let me give you some background, I’ve been working with the Shippensburg Fire Department for awhile to be able to shadow a firefighter.
My reasoning for doing this was both simple and complex: One, it’s always good to do a piece investigating …

Exhibit A (Photo by Morgan Young)

I love the police log.
I mean I really love the police log. You know why? I know I have expressed this sentiment before, but the police log is hilarious. Keep in mind this opinion is coming from an avid reader of the Huffington Post’s dumb criminals section.
There are just so many times that I’ve read a police release about an incident and said out loud, “Yep that was stupid.” Now there are definitely incidences where a bad luck and unknowingly being in the wrong place at …
