Truck driver taken to Chambersburg Hospital after I-81 crash
The driver of a tractor trailer on Interstate 81 has been taken to Chambersburg Hospital after he crashed into the highway median near Exit 29 at around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to state police.
The state police had recieved several calls saying the driver was driving erratically and troopers had started to pursue the truck but the driver did not stop, according to State Trooper Robert Hicks.
The truck eventually crashed into a median and has held traffic up on Intersate 81.
As of now, Trooper Hicks reports that it looks as if the driver was having a “medical episode” and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The driver was reported as having minor injuries.
Interstate 81 at mile marker 31 is reported open and flowing as normal. More information will be released when it is available.
