SHIPPENSBURG — The Shippensburg University chapter of Tau Kappa (women’s athletics fraternity) is planning its third Project Prom Dress event, but before the event, prom dresses/gowns and accessories are needed.

Project Prom Dress will be from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 14 in SU’s Heiges Field House.

The event makes it easier for local teenage girls to attend their high school formals by lightening their financial burden, according to organizers.

Sought are gently used homecoming, bridesmaids and prom dress, shoes, jewelry, purses and accessories. A donations box is to be outside the administrative offices in Heiges Field House.

Last year, $700 was raised by selling 50 dresses and related accessories. Dresses are typically priced between $5 and $30. For more information, contact Tau Kappa secretary Caitlin Bamberger at cb7311@ship.edu or (484) 955-7628.
