Shippensburg University president congratulates alumnus on appointment
Shippensburg University President Bill Ruud today congratulated Sen. Richard Alloway II on his appointment to the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors.
“During his tenure in the state Legislature and representing this area, Sen. Alloway has shown a keen understanding of the role that higher education plays in the Commonwealth’s future and especially of the contributions by Shippensburg and all of the PASSHE universities,” said Ruud. “As a graduate of Shippensburg, he knows first hand the importance of having the opportunity to learn and prepare for the future. We’re proud of this outstanding alumnus and look forward to working with him in his new role.”
Alloway, a 1993 Shippensburg University graduate, was appointed Monday to a four-year term by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati. The 20-member board is responsible for setting tuition rates and establishing educational and fiscal goals for the 14 SSHE schools. The board also appoints the chancellor and university presidents and approves new academic programs.
