Shippensburg parks and recreation department opens registration for summer sports programs

SHIPPENSBURG — Registration is now open for various summer leagues and programs of Shippensburg Borough Parks and Recreation Department.

To register, contact Shippensburg Borough Parks & Recreation Department at 532-7144. The parks and recreation office is located in Memorial Park and is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Suburban Baseball & Softball
$65, resident
$75, nonresident
Plays in Chambersburg Suburban League. All participants must provide a copy of their birth certificate or baptismal record.
Registration for Suburban Sports will end Feb. 28.

Girl’s Suburban Softball
Softball ages as of Jan. 1
U-12, U14, U-16, & U-18
Must have at least 12 players registered at same age to enter a team.

Boys Suburban Baseball
Baseball ages as of April 30
Mustang (9-10), Bronco (11-12), Pony (13-14),
Colt (15-16, and 17-18 if no Palomino division exists) and Palomino (17-18 if available)

Instructional T-ball
Boys and girls ages 3, 4, 5, or 5, 6, 7, 8,
Boys and girls will play together
$35, resident $45, nonresident
T-ball is always looking for dedicated coaches and team sponsors.
Age as of Aug. 31

Adult Summer Basketball League
Season Begins June 2. Early evenings
There must be at least four paid teams to have league.
$100 deposit required to have league.
Payment in full by first game or you do not play.
$500 per team + $10 fee per nonresident
($100 cap per team for non-resident fees)

Summer Soccer
Runs June 18 through July 25
Ages 14 and up play Monday and Thursday evenings.
$175 per team + $10 fee per nonresident
There must be at least four paid teams to have league.

Fall Adult Coed Soccer
Plays Sundays, Sept. 15 to Oct. 27
$275 per team + $10 fee per nonresident
There must be at least four paid teams to have league.

Shippensburg Greyhound KYFCL Football & Cheerleading League
Instructional: Ages 5,6,7
JV Football: Ages 8,9
Mid Varsity Football: Ages 10, 11
Varsity Football: Ages 12, 13
Participants must be designated age by Sept. 1.
$70 Resident; $80 Non-Resident
There is a one-time mandatory concession work obligation and concession stand donation. (Soda, Gatorade or Water)
Participants must provide a copy of their birth certificate or baptismal record and proof of physical for current year

Pavilion Rentals at Memorial Park
All Rentals must be paid in full at time of reservation.
Small (11 tables) – Resident, $55; nonresident, $90
Memorial (14 tables) – Resident, $85; nonresident,$115
Lions (24 tables) Resident,$150; nonresident,$185

Easter Egg Hunt
April 23 Rain Date – TBA
Ages 2 & under – 11 a.m. 3 & 4 11:15 a.m.
5 & 6 – 11:30 a.m. 7, 8, 9 & 10 – 11:45 a.m.

New: Parks and Recreation will try some new activities which could include Fall Baseball, Traveling Youth Basketball, Sports Clinics and Camps, Baseball Tournaments, Kick Ball Leagues and/or Tournaments for all ages, and Dodge Ball League and/or Tournaments for all ages.

Adopt a Plot – Your Family or organization would be able to volunteer to help with the planting, landscaping, clean up, etc., of borough parks and trails.
But, the department needs your input and help to find out what you would like to participate in.
