Kauffman says reporting requirements for small games of chance extended
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Cumberland/Franklin) on Monday said the deadline for nonprofit organizations and charities to submit reports as part of the updated Small Games of Chance Act has been extended for one year.
“I know many local organizations have expressed concerns about the reporting requirements, so I am pleased the deadline to comply has been extended,” said Kauffman. “This extension will give organizations the time needed to adhere to the new reporting requirements.”
The Corbett administration has announced that the deadline is being extended from Feb. 1, 2013, to Feb. 1, 2014, for documentation required for small games of chance to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.
The Small Games of Chance law was updated last session to give nonprofit organizations the ability to increase the prize limits for their small games of chance, thereby raising more funding for the charitable works they perform in local communities.
“I continue to be in awe of the amount of community projects and scholarships supported by our area veterans groups, fire companies, civic organizations and other similar groups that use small games of chance to support these endeavors,” said Kauffman. “They go to a great deal of effort to raise funds and give back to our local communities, and we, in turn, need to make sure they are able to continue these good works.”
