Boys & Girls Club of Chambersburg and Shippensburg get set for Wing Challenge
SCOTLAND — The Boys & Girls Club of Chambersburg and Shippensburg prepare to welcome many of the area’s lending restaurants to compete in its second annual Wing Challenge hosted at Chambersburg Country Club from 2 to 5 p.m. January 27.
Open to the public, the cost of entry is $20 per person and includes wings from area vendors such as EJ’s Grill, Knute’s, Orchards,
Copper Kettle, Norland Pub, Jack’s Place, Dilly’s, The Cottage (past participants, subject to change).
All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the area’s local Boys & Girls Club.
In 2012, the B&GC welcomed more than 150 guests or “judges” to their first annual event. Many restaurants were awarded prizes, but Knute’s was awarded the crown of the “Best Wing”. This year in additional to other prizes, the B&GC will be having a wing eating contest, wing brain teaser challenge and a 50/50 raffle.
“We are extremely excited for our 2nd year of the Wing Challenge. Last year we were able to raise over $1,500, for the Boys & Girls Club and we hope to better that mark this year. The
restaurants have been great supporters, donating their time and their wings. The community has also embraced the competition by purchasing tickets to attend. It’s really a fun afternoon to
gather for a good cause and sample some great food,” commented Boys & Girls Club President Gary Holder.
Tickets for the event can be purchased by contacting the Boys & Girls Club at 261-5761. Tickets will also be sold at the door (pending space available).
Interested restaurants, not already signed up to participant, may contact Karyn Gramata at the above number to find out how to
enter (space is limited).
