BLOG: Protected by God
By MELISSA STEINOUR
Hello everyone & thank you for following my “Words of Faith” blog.
I wanted to share a story with you that happened to me three weeks ago. It was a Tuesday afternoon and I remember that day I felt weighted down. My oldest son, Brady, had been having severe nosebleeds, and my youngest son, Austin, had a reaction the night before to some foods he ate and I was having back pain. I guess you could say maybe my mind was a bit preoccupied with life. I was in a rush to pick them up that afternoon from their school singing groups. It was just after 4 pm as I swung into the middle school parking lot and picked up Austin by the side door. We then proceeded to the high school where I picked up Brady at the front door.
If you know my kids at all, you know that they are immediately talking to me about their day – usually it’s both of them at once, and I really do love this about them. I was trying to listen as we turned right onto Eberly Drive and proceeded to the stop sign of Rowe Road. I made a quick stop and then began to accelerate to make a left turn. But suddenly I heard Brady yelling from the back seat and I slammed the brakes on – just in time to see a pick-up truck pass the front of our vehicle. I NEVER SAW IT!
WOW – that is just how accidents can happen. I was so thankful that Brady was alert enough to see the vehicle and quick enough to yell for me to stop. To think that the pick-up would have hit the side where both my boys were sitting … it could have been very bad, but God was watching over us and protecting us. He is a GREAT and MIGHTY GOD!
I was very quickly reminded of this verse “For I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”. Jeremiah 29:11.
I told Brady and Austin that the Lord is not done with us yet. He has plans for us all.
Do you know that as long as you are on this earth God is not done with you either? He has plans for YOU, good plans! We must daily surrender our will to Him and seek Him in what he wants for us. I encourage you to ask Him what He wants and be quiet and still enough to hear Him answer. He will answer! Remember He knows you better than you know yourself.
“The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer, I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation’.” Psalm 91:14-16
