SHIPPENSBURG — Shippensburg Police Department has received a number of complaints of drivers failing to stop their vehicles while a school bus is stopped at the intersection of East Orange and South Earl streets to drop off or pick up children.

The school bus’s flashing reg signal lights are activated during these incidents, police said.

Police wish to remind the public that failing to stay stopped at an intersection while a school bus’s flashing red lights are activated is a violation; drivers must stay stopped until the lights have stopped flashing and children, if exiting the bus, have reached a place of safety. The penalty is a $250 fine and suspension of operating privileges for 60 days.
