Shippensburg University president presents checks to fire companies, EMS

SHIPPENSBURG — Shippensburg University President Bill Ruud recently presented checks to representatives of the three Shippensburg fire companies and Shippensburg Area Emergency Medical Services.

Each of the companies, Cumberland Valley Hose Company, Vigilant Hose Company and West End Fire and Rescue Company, received a $10,000 check as part of contracts with the companies to provide emergency services to the university.

In addition, Vigilant Hose Company also received $5,000 toward purchase of its 2005 Emergency One Rescue Fire Engine. It is the eighth payment of the university’s 10-year commitment to support the purchase.

SAEMS received a $5,000 check, the eighth payment of a 10-year commitment to support the service.
