Shippensburg University president, Brandt Farm owners to switch roles in Farm-City Job Exchange Program
SHIPPENSBURG — The 2012 Farm City Banquet Committee has announced that Mark and Linda Brandt of Brandt Farms of Shippensburg, and Dr. William Ruud, president of Shippensburg University, have been selected as this year’s Job Exchange participants.
Mark and Linda Brandt moved to Shippensburg in 1974 and started Brandt Farm. They own Brandt farms along with their children, Jonathan and Sharon. Brandt Farm consists of 340 acres and they have 180 dairy cows and 180 heifers. They grow various crops for their cattle including, alfalfa, corn and soy beans and they also grow wheat to help with crop rotation. The Brandts are members of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and Shippensburg Young Farmers.
Ruud is the 15th permanent president of Shippensburg University. He brings 26 years of experience in higher education as well as experience in leadership roles in state government to his presidency.
Ruud joined the university community from his former position as Professor of Management, Policy and Strategy at California State University, Stanislaus, where he also served as Vice President for Development and University Relations. Ruud earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration and Hospital Administration from the University of North Dakota, and both master’s and doctoral degrees in Organizational Behavior from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Job exchange is a wonderful opportunity for the participants to learn about their professional roles. Ruud will report to Brandt Farm the afternoon of Nov. 12. The Brandts will arrive for duty at Shippensburg University the morning of Nov. 15.
Farm City Banquet will be held on Nov, 19 at Newburg U.M. Church, Fellowship Hall, 203 North High Street, Newburg, PA 17240. The Banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social time and Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner served family style at 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Guest Speaker will be Eric Finkenbinder, Meteorologist of ABC27 News.
