Shippensburg man arrested in stabbing

SHIPPENSBURG – Police have arrested a Shippensburg man in connection with a stabbing Tuesday but are still looking for a second person involved.

Shippensburg Police arrested Paul Rivers, 21, with the assistance of Shippensburg University Police.

Borough police received a report of a fight behind 337 E. Fort St., Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. A short while later, Nicholas Fortenberry, Shippensburg, showed up at the police station with several stab wounds to the back of his head and neck. He was alert and able to speak to officers.

The victim, who was transported to Chambersburg Hospital, provided a description of two suspects involved in the fight. Rivers was located by Shippensburg University Police and taken into custody.

Officers were unable to find the second suspect, who is described as a black male, between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall, with light black skin and freckles. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and running southwest on Fort Street.

The second suspect took property from the victim, police said.

Rivers has been charged with aggravated assault and robbery. He was taken to Cumberland County Booking Center. Anyone with information about the second suspect is urged to contact police.
