Teen tased after leading police on foot chase
SHIPPENSBURG – Police used a Taser to apprehend a teen who resisted arrest.
Shippensburg Police were dispatched to the Shippensburg Community Center on North Fayette Street for a report of a drunk man causing a disturbance.
Witnesses provided a description of the man and pointed him out when police arrived. When police tried to make contact with the 17-year-old, he began running.
He fled into the backyard of a residence and was stopped by a high fence.
Police tried to grab him, but he broke free and continued to try to flee. An officer deployed a Taser, and he was taken into custody.
Police said the teen was “visibly intoxicated and also admitted to smoking synthetic marijuana.” He was released to his parents and charged with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, underage drinking, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
The incident happened Aug. 31. Police released information on the incident Monday.
