Man tries to abduct woman walking near Shippensburg

SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP – Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a woman walking along Roxbury Road Monday evening.

Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg, said the 20-year-old woman was walking along Roxbury Road around 6:45 p.m. when a man driving by stopped and asked her if she wanted a ride.

He left after she declined, but he drove a short distance, turned around and approached her again.

The man got out of his vehicle and chased her before grabbing her in the front yard of a home. Police said he struck the woman and tried to drag her into the vehicle.

After a brief struggle, he returned to his vehicle and fled.

The vehicle is described as red, unknown make or model, possibly a minivan. The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, brown hair, heavy build, wearing a blue shirt and sunglasses with orange lenses.
