Chambersburg man charged with robbery, possession of synthetic marijuana
A Chambersburg man was charged with assaulting and robbing two people in Shippensburg.
Police said Arkell Dennis, who turned 26 Monday, was arrested and placed in Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
According to police, he became angry with two people as they were stopped at the intersection of South Washington and East Garfield streets. He allegedly tried to choke a woman after slamming the vehicle into park and take the keys from the ignition. Police allege he also struck a male passenger.
The woman ran away from the vehicle, but Dennis chased after her and stole her purse, police said.
He was taken into custody at gunpoint a few blocks away after an officer saw him walking down a dark alley.
Police said he had items from the woman’s purse, though he did not have the purse itself. It was located a few blocks away with the help of Carlisle Police and its K-9 unit.
Dennis also allegedly had synthetic marijuana at the time.
