SHIPPENSBURG, Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 — The last day of January was more like the last day of April.
People sat out on their porches and stolled in shirt sleeves during the afternoon.
The high temperature on Tuesday in Shippensburg was 65, according to Timothy W. Hawkins, associate professor in the Shippensburg University Department of Geography and Earth Science.  The record was 69 degrees, set in 1947.
The high in Hagerstown, Md., was 67 degrees, just short of the 70-degree record for the date also set in 1947.
Daytime temperatures mostly in the 40s will continue to suggest the end of winter through Valentine’s Day. Freezing temperatures return at night for most of the period, accordign to AccuWeather.com.
