Two SU students to be commissioned to US Army as officers

SHIPPENSBURG, Thursday, Dec. 8 – Shippensburg University’s Department of Military Science (ROTC) will hold a commission ceremony for two ROTC students transitioning into U.S. Army officers Saturday, Dec. 17.
Shawn McKillip of Middletown, Pa. and Christopher Breedlove of Gettysburg, Pa., will be the two newest U.S. Army officers commissioned by the college since its seperation from part of the Dickinson College program prior to 1981.
The University has has commissioned 455 officers into the U.S. Army.
The ceremony will be held at the campus’ Old Main Chapel at 8:30 a.m.
Guest speaker to the event will be Maj. Gen. Fredrick B. “Ben” Hughes, United States Army, Chief, Legislative Liaison.
In attendance will be University President Dr. William Ruud and Dr. Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Denny Terrell, United States Air Force, Vice President of Finance and Administration at the University and Dr. James Johnson, Dean of the College of Education and Human Services.
